Whew! Glad that one is over. I am amazed at how well everything went off despite mother nature throwing in a few monkey wrenches! Testament to our kids and their love of SNOW sports!
Saturday was our Freestyle Rail Jam against Appalachian Ski Mountain. Our Freestyle Team captured most of the Gold medals in the competition, their grit in the weather evident. I was most amazed watching some kids complete their first box Friday night then entering the competition for Saturday! Great job coaches.
The beer festival was a lot of fun, thanks to the volunteers helping with setup, cleanup and especially my two amazing pretzel Snacklace sellers! Crystal and Amanda. We made $250 in selling snack laces!
The Alpine race went off in the -2 degrees, several parents posting on social media about this first event for their kids. They loved it and I believe if we can survive yesterday, we can survive anything!
Here are some of the coaching recaps:
From Coach John Kevin - Kaden, Max and Alex did really well in the competition, they even threw new tricks and landed them, I have seen improvement from them. Nate killed it with his newly learned front board, and very impressed by wolf's 3 out he's been working. Scott, Charlie and Aiden have really improved since first practice and I'm ready to see more out of them.
From Coach Daniel: Ethan did his first box on Friday night, I'm proud he had the courage to get it done. Matthew showing new tricks in the park increasing his bag of tricks with each practice.
From Coach Aaron: We welcomed Drake to the team and spent most of practice prepping for the first competition of the season. On Friday Drake, Seth, Renn, Emma, Taylor and Maddy all practiced on a feature for the first time of the season. Emma, Taylor and Drake learned quickly and were perfecting their 50/50 by the end of the day. Regardless of the results on Saturday, I was very proud to see so many of the team members enter the competition, especially those for the first time.
All results from both competitions and USASA are available on Beech Mountain Resort's website as well as our website. Practice for the holiday weekend is scheduled for the Freestyle Team, meeting in the locker room at 530p or the Quad at 6pm. Saturday from 9am - 3pm.
